Apostolic Scholar Produces Baptism Books with Unprecedented Historical Support
Posted by Paul Baumeister Aug 22nd, 2010 at 4:43 pm PT
UNITED KINGDOM - August 21, 2010. Mr. Kulwant Singh Boora, an Apostolic scholar, from the United Kingdom has produced some incredible workmanship and discoveries of historical and theological support for Baptism in Jesus name. His books are very well documented and are unlike any other historical research ever written on the subject. After reading the book, I interviewed Mr. Boora personally to find out more and to provide this information to all Apostolics worldwide.
Q: Mr. Boora, as a leading British/European Apostolic author, scholar and writer–who is also an expert on Indian religions growing up in a Sikh Indian family. Tell me about your new books: Apostolic (Acts2:38) and Post-Apostolic Baptism (28:19) volumes 1 and 2?
A: Well, I studied theology and biblical interpretation some years ago with the renowned University of Wales through Kings Evangelical Divinity School. While studying theology, I studied a subject that touched on Apostolic theology, so to speak.
It was this that spring-boarded me to research the subject of baptism in Jesus name in more detail. While researching, it made me realize that Apostolics have commonly quoted the Encyclopedia Britannica and Hasting Dictionary to name a few, for support of baptism in Jesus name. But these were merely top surface materials on the subject, since the greater depth and facts lay uncovered for decades in a theological and historical sense, with the exception of the New Testament of course.
These books cite hundreds of citations that show baptism in Jesus name was performed throughout the ages since the Early Church to the present time. Most of these citations are unheard of in Apostolic circles or resources due to it being researched in Europe instead of United States.
Q: Can you give an example of your research and scholarship?
A: Yes, for example, The New Testament of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in The Original Greek[1] 1860 A.D., notes the following:
“He that is baptized in the Name of Christ, is baptized in the Name of the Holy Trinity: for the Father and the Holy Spirit are inseparable from the Son. One person of the Holy Trinity does not exclude another but includes it…To be baptized in the Name of Jesus, is to be baptized in the Name of the Triune God, which could not be, unless Jesus Christ were God.”[2]
This foregoing quote recognizes the validity of baptism in the name of Jesus, since the author notes that Jesus is God and in His name is baptism invoked and performed, since in His name (Jesus) includes Father and Holy Ghost, therefore the validity of baptism in the name of Jesus is evident from the above quote. The quote also notes that during that period of time baptism in the name of Jesus flourished, hence the reference to it.
Another example in the United Kingdom is found in a work dated about 1866 A.D., entitled Re-Union of The Church – The Church and the Word Essay on Questions of The Day by Various Writers, which notes that dissenters were starting to baptize regularly in Jesus’ name, probably in Liverpool, England:
“…but the form which is now becoming common among Dissenters “I baptize thee in the Name of the Lord Jesus.”[3]
Another well noted British scholar, the late Professor Arthur James Mason (1851-1928), former Vicar of All Hallows, Barking and Master of Pembroke College Cambridge, and Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity Cambridge University (for his bio see Who’s Who, 1905 fifty-seventh year issue p. 35) adds to the list of scholars and is in close proximity to the Anglo-Catholic view, that baptism in the name of Jesus only is a valid form of baptism as recognized by the Catholic Church. A notation of this appears in his work published in 1893 A.D., entitled: The Relation of Confirmation To Baptism As Taught in Holy Scripture and The Fathers (2nd ed.) published by Longsmans, Green & Co., London (1893).
What the late British Cambridge University scholar and professor is informing us, is that, despite the stigma associated with the Jesus only baptismal formula, in that, it being termed by some as invalid despite scriptural evidence (Acts 2:38), the Catholic Church in Rome and the West in this era appeared to accept its candidates as correctly baptized, as noted by the preceding commentator. This view is brought out when discussing the issue of confirmation and baptism. Mason’s work notes quite distinctively that baptism in the name of Jesus is nevertheless sufficient to secure salvation. Thus, as Professor Mason notes (see p. 132 of the version published by Bibliolife, LLC):
“Baptism, though uncompleted by confirmation, is nevertheless sufficient to secure salvation… and this, even if the formula be … only the name of Jesus Christ.”
Therefore, the United Kingdom was home to baptism in the name of Jesus for centuries. However, volumes 1 and 2, as you personally know Mr. Baumeister, contain innumerable references, citations, journals, articles, treaties and book references–with reference to the recent findings from the 9th century in the United Kingdom with respect to possible baptism in the name of Jesus–and thoroughly explains how the ‘actual’ transition took place from Jesus name to the Father, Son and Holy Ghost, which is sometimes commonly misunderstood among Apostolic people.
Q: Mr. Boora, I have read your work which has also been read by numerous other people around the world which include pastors, bishops, ministers, students, etc, and it has to be said that it is the most comprehensive well researched, scholarly and academic theological Apostolic work published on baptism in the name of Jesus out there, can you tell us a bit more about your work?
A: I would have to say, that to learn more about the published works, about volumes 1 and 2 can be obtained directly from the publisher Xlibris at the following website: http://www2.xlibris.com/bookstore/author.aspx?authorid=58258 Or they can contact the Apostolic School of Theology directly and speak with them regarding my work that is being used for university level courses as recommended reading texts for students.

Muslim attack on Apostolic Bible College!

Faisalabad, Pakistan – July 10, 2010. This morning we were in the middle of a college course and teaching on worship. In the middle of the course, students starting to run out of the room and then run back in. I asked them what was happening and they said that Muslim extremists were attacking the town with guns and that it was a large mob.
Please pray right now this morning. This just happened at about 8:45AM on Saturday.
I will add more as I find out. Please visit the site for more news as it comes to us. If you add us on the twitter for Apostolic News, you will get more news as it comes.
More News Updated (10:26 AM PST)
Our director says, “the mob is gathering and approaching the town. There are many women that are taking refuge in our Bible College. The mob is on our street now. This started because a couple of evangelists were preaching in Faislabad and angered the Muslims. They were wrongly accused of desecrating the Muslim religion and this became public. So, many are gathering. There are many that have taken refuge here. Outsiders are with us also with a tremendous fear visible in their eyes. Our people are very confident that God is protecting us. Please continue to pray.”
It is difficult to know how all of this occured, but I did read in the news that on July 1, there was an accusation against a elderly man for blasphemy against Muhammad the prophet. He lives in the same town of Faisalabad. It is very possible that this is connected with the mob today. You can read more here.
Persecution in Pakistan
Christians in Pakistan face unbelievable persecution in a country that is predominantly Muslim. In a court of law, a Christian man’s testimony is worth half that of a Muslim and a Christian woman’s testimony is only worth quarter. As a result, many Christian women are abused and cannot defend themselves. Also, it is part of the law to give a death sentence to anyone who defies the name of the prophet Mohammed. The law only requires four Muslim witnesses for a conviction. It is laws like this that Muslim extremists use to persecute Christians and in many areas where there is not a lot of police, Muslims will take matters into their own hands.
Last Years Attacks
This is what happened on August 2, 2009. At a nearby mosque, the imam began to falsely accuse Christians in the village of Gojra and Korian of burning the book of the Koran. Within a few minutes, a Muslim mob ran to these villages and demolished about 70 homes, 2 churches, and killed 8 Christians—including children. One of the churches was an Apostolic church. The local police watched the whole episode and did not even try to stop them. The Bible College director for Apostolic School of Theology International, visited the Christian villages and brought food, water, and money. He was astounded at the atrocities that took place in that village. He lives only about 90 miles away from those villages.
Two weeks later, another attack was planned by a local mob of Muslims—this time in the same city where our director lives. Somehow he overheard that the imam, the leader of the Mosque, was planning to throw a torn Koran in the streets of the city. He called me and we sent messages by Twitter to pray for him and our two churches in that city. This time the local police and military was ready for them and when the imam threw the Koran in the street, he was immediately arrested and the persecution was stopped completely. Thank God for the prayers of many people that day!

Just loving Jesus!

I was talking to an ex-Apostolic the other day about church, and this person was critical about everything the church stood for. I couldn't help but take notice that this person had in their not so old life been part of more than 4 churches.
Standards were dropped almost immediately, she first cut her hair, and then her husband grew facial hair. That's not all, makeup, TV, movies, wine....That's just the tip of the iceberg
They're anthem is "we're just in love with Jesus."
They'll "facebook" and "tweet" about how better off they are and criticized our beliefs, but what they really want is a church that will put up with they're habits, attitudes and carnality.
We are criticized and call legalistic Pharisees, yet we are not the ones trying to justify ourselves, we are not trying to see what we can get away with. We are trying to please God and present ourselves a living sacrifice...If there is no law to live by as Christians, then what was God saying through the prophet, when he said He would write His laws in our hearts?

I don't want Jesus as my savior only, but I want Him to be Lord of my life also. That means I must submit to His will and purpose. I don't want to have a form of godliness but deny the power there of.
The problem is many don't have a solid foundation, they are blown by every wind of doctrine, but the church is like a tree PLANTED!

If you know of anyone who has left the church for "greener" pastures, pray for them. Because deep down, they really want to come home.

Wow! The Rock Church is in revival....God is doing some powerful things there. There are many people who would love to see this "beacon of truth" crumble. But the devil is a liar!

With that said, we cannot give ear to the nay-sayers. We must give ear to what the spirit is saying to the church. Sometimes we may feel as though we are alone in this world, but God knows exactly what he is doing and how he is going to do it.

I hear a lot of talk about how we should use T.V. to preach the gospel to all nations.

I couldn't disagree more! T.V. has been controlled by Hollywood, and is Hollywood's most powerful tool. To use T.V. for the preaching of the gospel would put the church in competition with Hollywood, and quite frankly the church is not in competition with anybody.

Furthermore the church would be forced to compromise on doctrine. T.V. Stations are too worried about offending people that you really would not be allowed to minister.

I personally know a lady who has been "backslidden" for 20 plus years. She sometimes watches a very famous preacher on T.V. She goes as far as saying that this "preacher" (if you could call him that) is her personal pastor and therefore she has no need to congregate at a local church.

Why bring this up, obviously there will be people who are not grounded and will fall by the way side, because of this stumbling block that we the "watchmen" should never have placed in their path.

I find it funny that many people are giving up on TV, a news article I read on the Michael Savage web site said that a lady was so sick of seeing Obama on TV that she threw out her TV.

I talk to people all the time about TV, and they comment on how it's a bunch of waisted time, and its all nothing but junk on TV anyways!
Many "non-Apostolics" Christians are giving up on TV as well.

However, there are many "so called" Apostolics that are FIGHTING for the acceptance of TV in the Apostolic movement. They will criticize those of us who will not "bow down to Egypt's gods." The reality is they just want an excuse to watch TV (Hollywood) and defile their minds.

It doesn't matter how strong you may feel spiritually, you will fall. Your mind will take you there. Even the most "innocent" movies, or shows are dirty. TV is designed to dominate you! We, however, are designed to have dominion, and we are made in the Image of God.

So the question is, will we go to hell for watching TV? The answer: YES! You would be bowing down to Egypt's gods. And you will be a slave and be dominated by Egypt. We will be carnally minded and we will begin to accept Egypt. And that my friends in not pleasing to God, nor is it his will.

Paul said "be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your minds."

The Grace of God.

I have been asked "what is the Grace of God?"
How does one obtain it? If we are saved by it, then without doubt it is of the utmost importance that we have it.
The bible tells us that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. What an awesome revelation! Because of our "faith in Christ Jesus" we have the grace of God. Grace has been defined as God's unmerited favor. Which is a correct definition, but it is much more then that. Some will say Jesus on the cross is the grace of God. Again correct, yet we see the grace of God in scripture from the very beginning, the world was without form and void and darkness was upon it, then God spoke and began creation. That was grace in action. Adam and Eve fell and God made coverings and promises to them, that was God's grace. In the law, God gaves instructions on sacrifices for sins, so the judgement of God would be held back. That was God's grace!
In the New Testament God wrote His laws in the tables of our heart, meaning there still is laws because of His grace. Calvery is God's grace and so is His resurrection. However, we can never take Pentecost out of grace. Without Pentecost we don't have grace. Grace is found in the whole bible not just one event. God's grace is He giving us His word (John 3:5, Acts 2:38) and many more. He always makes a way for us to be saved. Its up to us to respond and ACT.
We cannot separate grace and faith, they are inseparable just like faith and hope, faith and works...James said "show me your faith without works and I'll show you my faith by my works. Faith without works is dead."
Paul said the just shall live by faith. The original says it this way, " and those justified by their faith shall live"
Works do not save us, but the question now is can we be saved without works?
Another way of putting it is, can we be saved with dead faith? The answer of course is no.
Not according to scripture.
I've heard alot of talk about "1 step" or "3 steps" to be saved? My answer is follow the scriptures. When you begin to count steps and question when or where are we saved you will begin to "half step." Half stepping in the things of God is a dangerous place to be.
